Important Themes
An important theme of this book would be to always keep on going. The reason that this is an important theme of this book is because within this book Ryan faced a great deal of troubles within his tour in Iraq, his life after his tour, and before he even joined the Army. ""A plane crash into the World Trade Center(page 5)."" This quote is evidence of some of the troubles that Ryan had to live with before his tour in Iraq. "A TASTE OF DEATH(page 109)." Now this isn't text from the book, but it a title of a chapter within the book where Ryan goes through so hard times while in Iraq and see his life flash before his eyes. "It's a writing piece in which we have to describe a time when we saw something destroyed(page 296)." This is when he was done with his tour and in college and got an assignment, when he read, saw something destroyed, all he could remember was his time in Iraq, he experienced post traumatic stress disorder (ptsd).
